The spacious living room
The theme is aquamarine

The poolside garden
Outdoors: The blue and white exterior complements the villa’s interesting shape - designed to reflect its marine style. Why not luxuriate on sunloungers beside the glistening aquamarine waters of the pool or snooze under the shady palm tree. The pretty garden and flower beds are filled with Mediterranean plants like juniper, jasmine, oleanders, and bougainvillaea. The garden is a great place to dine after grilling fish bought from the local fish specialist on the barbecue. The villa boasts another good dining spot too – the large main terrace that leads out from the lounge. This is a delightful spot featuring blue pillars and intricate floor tiles as well as sea and urban views. Several of the bedrooms also lead out onto terraces or balcony with sea or pool view. All bedrooms have air-con
Bedrooms are well furnished
Indoors: Villa Acquamarina’s comfortable interiors are a masterpiece of design with interesting light effects and good use of space. The hall and marble stairwell are particularly remarkable, as are the wonderful ceramic floors. The spacious living room is filled with plants and has several sofas and armchairs on which to recline. There are also two round wooden dining tables. To whet your appetite before you begin your exploration of Sant’Antioco island, photos of the nearby beaches adorn the walls. From the living room, large glass doors take you out onto the terrace, which is large enough to feel like another whole room! An interesting design feature
The separate kitchen is beautifully tiled and comes well equipped with oven, large fridge-freezer and an espresso machine. Just off the kitchen is a small utility room with washing machine, shower and WC. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned and have their own TV, most have their own fully-tiled en-suite bathrooms and some have walk-in wardrobes. Downstairs on the ground floor are a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, which opens out into the garden and pool area. There is also a separate bathroom on this level. Upstairs are four more bedrooms and three more bathrooms. There is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom that leads out onto a large solarium style terrace with views across the sea to the Sardinian mainland. Beside this is another double bedroom with a balcony overlooking the pool and an en-suite with corner bathtub. There is a twin bedroom that also leads out onto the large solarium terrace and a front-facing bedroom that can sleep up to three people. There is a separate shower room with twin sinks for these two rooms. There are two dining tables

Surrounding Area: As the villa is situated on the periphery of Calasetta, it is only about a five-minute walk to the town centre, to the lively fishing and ferry port and to the sandy beach of Sottotorre, located beneath the old tower. Alternatively, just a five-minute drive away, are two long sandy beaches with transparent waters that are surrounded by nature. Other lovely beaches on the island, such as Maladroxia and Coaquaddus also take little time to reach by car. We thoroughly recommend exploring Sant’Antioco’s diverse coastline and more mountainous interior. There are several good options for eating out both in Calasetta and the nearby town of Sant’Antioco. Calasetta has a modern art museum and Sant’Antioco town has several ancient sites and a museum of antiquities. Just a short ferry trip away is the delightful and unspoilt island of San Pietro and the smart town of Carloforte. The mainland of Sardinia is quickly reached by car across the causeway at Sant’Antioco, and among other things you can visit the remarkable caves of Is Zuddas and the Necropolis of Montessu at Santadi and Monte Sirai at Carbonia. Italian Islands Insight: The friendly owners of Villa Acquamarina have really thought of everything and on request they also run the villa as a Bed & Breakfast, renting out the lovely en-suite rooms individually. They have made sure there is central heating in all rooms so that the villa and its surroundings can be enjoyed all year round. Calasetta is a unique destination where you can really get a good taste of authentic local life and culture. Large built-in barbecue
Pets are allowed too and the pool is normally open from June to September, but these times could be extended subject to requests and the weather, which is usually nice from late April to mid-October. For family reunions or other large party groups (up to a maximum of 25 people), have the option of also renting two one-bedroom apartments, Casetta Celeste and Casetta Azzurro, and two studios, Casetta Blu and Casetta Turchese, that are on site, and these can interconnect with each other too. This would give you a total of 11 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. Usually though, the owners let these out separately from the villa and guests of these apartments have their own outdoor and barbecue area, but are allowed access to the pool. Although we can arrange a transfer for you from Cagliari airport and you can hire bikes or manage on foot getting around Calasetta, we do recommend car hire in order to get to the other nearby beaches and to explore the region. The tasteful interior décor
We are really pleased to have such a high quality and well located villa in our collection. It is the perfect choice for those who like to relax indoors as well as out, since the interiors are both comfortable and spacious, and boast a high standard of furnishings. Villa Acquamarina is ideal for a large group of friends or for two or three families on holiday together, but the reasonable prices will also suit smaller groups who can make use of the extra space. |
