ncluding buffet breakfasts, air conditioning, airport transfers and a shuttle bus to Lampedusa’s best beaches, the pretty Residence Alba also offers a large swimming pool, a bar and well maintained grounds. The Residence enjoys a favourable position 500 metres outside the town centre and just over 300 metres from the bay of Cala Creta with its dramatic rocks and enticing sea. The accommodation consists of one and two-bedroom self-catering apartments, each with its own small terrace.

Outdoors: The pleasing grounds have attractive stone paths lined by pine, fig and palm trees with eye-catching features like pot plants and a well. While the canopies of trees above the walkways provide shade and a sense of freshness, the bright colours of the hibiscus, bougainvillaea, gardenia and geraniums add to the delightful atmosphere.

Breakfast is served every morning at the bar in the centre of the small complex, which has been beautifully decorated with locally painted ceramics. The bar opens out onto a patio style garden with tables and chairs where you can also enjoy your breakfast or a pre-dinner aperitif.

Pool with shallow end

The 200 square-metre pool is illuminated at night and has a shallow end for children. It is surrounded by comfortable cushioned sunloungers on which to relax. Dotted around the grounds are various barbecue spots – you just need to buy your own coal. There are also several enclosed outdoor showers if you want to freshen up after a day at the beach or after a swim in the pool.

Camouflaged by Mediterranean macchia, there are 17 villetta-style apartments in total – usually either in groups of four or two – and all are on the ground floor. Each apartment has its own terrace with hammock, sunlounger, table and chairs.

Indoors: There are 7 one-bedroom apartments for a couple and 4 that can sleep a third person in the living room. There are several different types of two-bedroom apartments: There is 1 that has one double and one single bedroom and 1 that can also sleep a fourth person on a sofa bed in the living room. Alternatively, there is 1 apartment with two double bedrooms and 3 apartments with two double bedrooms that can also sleep an extra person in the living room.

The apartments are decorated in a simple style with comfortable furnishings and are nicely tiled throughout. Each apartment is air conditioned and there are hairdryers in the shower room. Each living room has a sofa or sofa bed, a dining table, a safe, a TV and a kitchen corner with hob, oven and fridge freezer.

Surrounding area: The Residence is about a ten-minute walk to Via Roma, the lively high street through the centre of Lampedusa town. In the other direction you can walk to a supermarket and to the rocky beaches of Cala Creta, Cala Calandra and Mare Morto – an ideal spot to swim and snorkel. Also nearby is the WWF sea turtle rescue-centre and hospital.

Lampedusas town & port

The island’s bus service takes you to the sandy beaches and the ports and the Residence’s own bus will drop you off at your chosen beach for the day and pick you up at pre-agreed times. Alternatively you can hire bikes, scooters or a car to get around the island freely. From the old port you can catch a hydrofoil to visit the volcanic island of Linosa nearby.

Italian Islands Insight: Residence Alba is ideal for families as the grounds are fully enclosed and the pool is fenced off with a safety catch to prevent young children from entering the pool area. It is also a great place for couples or groups of friends who want to take advantage of the many services offered by the Residence – there is even a 10% discount for honeymooners and pensioners!

The incredibly clear waters

Day-long boat excursions with lunch on board can also be booked through Residence Alba who will drop you off at and pick you up from the port. This is highly recommended as an excellent way to see the island and swim in all the wonderful places that are only reachable by boat. Diving is also a great island activity and the friendly staff of the residence can help you book this as well as boat hire.

Stone design features

Included in the price of the residence is a weekly change of linen and towels, final cleaning, daily breakfast, air conditioning, transfers to and from the airport or port, a minibus service to the beaches upon arrangement and use of the swimming pool. For those who would prefer more of a hotel-style service with beds made up daily, Residence Alba provides a different package that includes all of the above but additionally offers daily cleaning, a twice weekly change of bed linen and a daily change of towels. There is a supplement to be paid if you want the cleaning to include the kitchen corner. We can provide you with more details and a price quote for this option on request.

You can buy coffee, soft drinks and alcohol from the bar during opening hours – ideal for when you’re relaxing by the pool. Residence Alba is family-run and the welcoming owners live on site so they will always be ready to help you out and ensure your stay runs smoothly.
