Incredible sea views
Bathing by the old Tonnara
Pick figs fresh from the tree
Outdoors: Villa Bellavista’s elevated mountain-slope position, surrounded by nature, offers unhindered and unrivalled views of the countryside, mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The villa itself blends into this natural setting being built in smooth local quarried stone and there are several endearing ornamental features typical of Sicilian country houses, such as the traditional-style well. Each apartment has its own independent terracotta tiled terrace, with wooden tables and chairs and some have hammocks slung between brick pillars. In addition to these private terraces there are several communal areas like the shared sea-facing patio with deck chairs where you can admire the views, the barbecue spot at the back of the property and a well-tended garden filled with a variety of flowering plants, shrubs and trees. In season, guests can help themselves to tasty figs and oranges fresh from the trees. The property is located on a private road and is fully enclosed with an iron remote control gate for vehicle access to the car park at the rear. Breakfast with a view

Indoors: There is one studio and six one-bedroom apartments which sleep 2 people, or 4 where there is a sofa bed in the living room. Apartments Nord Est and Nord Ovest can be joined together to create a larger accommodation sleeping up to six people with 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchen corners, one of which is external. Another apartment, Nord Est Ovest, at the very top of the villa and reached by a spiral staircase, is only available in July and August. This is a romantic apartment for two with fabulous views and an outdoor sheltered cooking area. Nord Est's outdoor kitchen
The interiors of the apartments are decorated to the same simple rustic formula with an emphasis on traditional features throughout - terracotta floors, wooden beamed ceilings, whitewashed walls, brick arches, hand-carved furniture, wrought-iron bed frames and locally made ceramics. Creature comforts include safes, mosquito screens on all the windows and Satellite TV with some English channels. Each apartment has a shower room and the living room has a dining table and a simple kitchen corner with gas hob, fridge with freezer box and all the necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. In a couple of the apartments the cooking facilities are outside on the terrace so you can cook with a view! Living area with satellite TV

Surrounding Area: Bella Vista is near to superb little beaches like Cala Azzurro, Cala Mazzo, Cala Rossa and Cala Bianca as well as to the larger Guidaloca beach which has several amenities. There are seven delightful small coves in the nearby Zingaro Nature Reserve, which is a beautiful and unspoilt area to explore on foot along the designated pathways. Scopello itself is an appealing historical village with a few bars and restaurants and off the cobbled square is an ancient courtyard with a pizzeria, a gelateria, a ceramic craft shop, boutiques, and a bank. More amenities are found just 10km away in the small town of Castellammare del Golfo which has several long sandy beaches, supermarkets, some ideally placed restaurants, a cute harbour and the possibility of boat trips to the Egadi islands. Other nearby places of interest to visit by road are San Vito lo Capo, the mountaintop town of Erice and the ancient Elymian site of Segesta with Greek temple and theatre. Italian Islands Insight: Villa Bellavista is ideal for two but would also be good for a small family or for group bookings, since a couple of the apartments could be joined internally and another couple could share the same large terrace. The simple interiors in all the apartments are brand new and tastefully furnished and the kitchen areas are designed for preparing and serving simple Sicilian meals. A few minutes drive away is a mini-market with an enclosure next door selling local fresh farm produce. For a small extra cost you can experience traditional Sicilian cuisine prepared for you by Bella Vista’s friendly owners, Giacomo and Maria, at their home. They visit the villa most days in order to water the gardens and are friendly and helpful but also unobtrusive. In our view this property has so much to offer that you cannot fail to have a memorable holiday. |
