The wonderful pool

ntroducing Casetta Celeste - a great one-bedroom apartment set on the ground floor of the luxurious Villa Acquamarina in a private enclosed site with a shared pool. Guests can also swim in the crystal clear waters at any of the nearby beaches or can try out a boat trip round the island to admire the stunning coastline. The Casetta has the additional advantage of being within a short walking distance of the lively Calasetta town square where you can enjoy a glass of the excellent local red wine called Carignano del Sulcis or experience one of the many restaurants offering tasty traditional recipes.

The living room

Indoors: The sky-blue interiors are modern and comfortable. The front door leads into the living/dining room with double sofa bed and smart kitchen corner. There is a double bedroom and a beautifully tiled shower room. Amenities include air conditioning and a washing machine.

The patio & entrance

Outdoors: The whole property, the large villa and Casetta Celeste, has a blue and white exterior complemented by an interesting shape – all designed to reflect its marine style. Just outside the entrance on the patio is a small dining table and further round to the right is a communal barbecue area with plenty of seating for guests of Casetta Celeste and the three neighbouring apartments. There are also a couple of external showers which are a popular feature in Italy during the hot summer months. The shared swimming pool is located in front of the main villa.

Calasetta's old tower

Surrounding Area: Casetta Celeste is situated on the periphery of Calasetta and is only about a five-minute walk from the town centre, from the lively fishing and ferry port and from the sandy beach of Sottotorre, located beneath the old Saracen tower. Alternatively, just a five-minute drive away, are Le Saline and Spiaggia Grande, two long sandy beaches with transparent waters that are surrounded by nature. Other lovely beaches on the island, such as Maladroxia and Coaquaddus also take little time to reach by car. We thoroughly recommend exploring Sant’Antioco’s diverse coastline and more mountainous interior. There are several good options for eating out both in Calasetta and the nearby town of Sant’Antioco. Calasetta has a modern art museum and Sant’Antioco town has several ancient sites and a museum of antiquities. Just a short ferry trip away is the delightful and unspoilt island of San Pietro and the smart town of Carloforte. The mainland of Sardinia is quickly reached by car across the causeway at Sant’Antioco, and among other things you can visit the remarkable caves of Is Zuddas and the Necropolis of Montessu at Santadi and Monte Sirai at Carbonia.

Italian Islands Insight: Pets are allowed at the property and the pool is normally open from June to September, but these times could be extended subject to requests and the weather, which is usually nice from late April to mid-October.

The double bedroom

For a larger family or groups of friends, Casetta Celeste can be rented together with the next door Casetta Azzurro to make a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment that connects internally. As Casetta Azzurro’s living room is separate to the kitchen area, this room can be converted into a double, twin or single bedroom on request and this would give you a three-bedroom apartment with its own patio area.

For even larger groups, these two Casettas can also interconnect with two studio apartments, Casetta Turchese and Casetta Blu. For family reunions or other party groups Villa Acquamarina can be hired alongside these casettas, sleeping 25 people in total with 11 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms and private pool.

Cheerful interiors

Although we can arrange a transfer for you from Cagliari airport and you can hire bikes or manage on foot getting around Calasetta, we do recommend car hire in order to get to the other nearby beaches and to explore the region. Calasetta itself is a unique destination where you can really get a good taste of authentic local life and culture, derived from its distinct Ligurian legacy, its Genoese customs and its dialect from the town’s founding in 1769.

Casetta Celeste is a wise choice for those who like having immediate amenities such as air conditioning and access to a large pool but also want a variety of opportunities on the doorstep to explore and enjoy.
