The rockier side of Porto Taverna
The inconspicuous entrance
Surrounding Area: Porto Taverna beach cannot fail to impress. In the middle of the beach is a superb restaurant with a versatile kiosk and bar attached, and this is open from Easter onwards. At the opposite extreme of Porto Taverna is a seasonal bar but guests at Villetta Gialla will benefit from the closer convenience of Ristorante La Tavernetta – a restaurant/bar located at the near end of the beach. Also nearby is a third restaurant open all year round. Superb beach restaurant & bar
The nearest centre with a range of amenities such as shops, cocktail bars, a bank and a port is the resort of Porto San Paolo, a couple of kilometres away. In the other direction alternative restaurants are found in the hamlet of Monte Petrosu and slightly further away is the much larger resort of San Teodoro. Olbia is only 20 minutes drive and here you will find 2 large hypermarkets, a busy port, ancient city walls and some old Roman ruins. Tavolara & Porto San Paolo
This is an area that is truly blessed with outstanding beaches – you could easily go to a different amazing beach every day and still be astounded by the softness of the sand, the clarity of the water and the beauty of the surrounding nature. Most beaches in this area share a perspective over the incredible mountainous bulk of the Isle of Tavolara, perhaps at its most impressive viewed from Porto Taverna beach itself. The master bedroom
Indoors: The interiors of Villetta Gialla have been decorated in shades of pale and sunny yellow with terracotta floors and pretty curtains of typical Sardinian fabric and design. Upon entry you are immediately in the living room which is air conditioned and Satellite TV. Near the wooden dining table is a large cane sofa which can also be used as a single bed for a 5th guest. Off to one side is the kitchen corner with electric oven. The tasteful living room
A few steps lead down to a corridor where you’ll find the bedrooms, the wardrobes, the bathroom, and the laundry room. The double bedroom and the twin bedroom keep up the yellow colour scheme and theme of bamboo furniture and traditional Sardinian materials. The pretty lawn
Outdoors: Upon opening the main gate you are in the small but pretty, enclosed garden with its adjacent terrace area. You can dine outdoors as much as you want: there is a large barbecue and the terrace has a table seating six at which you can enjoy meals al fresco. A smaller table and 2 chairs are set out on the little lawn which is bordered by fragrant jasmine. Enjoy the view while unwinding
Italian Islands Insight: For a group of friends or two families who want to holiday together, Villetta Gialla can be rented with the next door property, Villetta Azzurra, which can be made to interconnect through their gardens. (They are otherwise private and separate from each other with independent entrances.) For even larger groups why not also rent the nearby Casa Verdemare, which cannot interconnect but is a close neighbour. There is a surcharge of £30 per week for guests who wish to make use of the air conditioning in the living room. Lounge in the sunny garden
The owner of the villa has his own boat – a Concord Fisher - that he can rent to guests, enabling them to visit the ridged island of Tavolara. Italian Islands can provide communications to enable arrangements to be made between the owner and guests. Another little extra, for guests arriving late, is a shopping service to ensure that a well-stocked fridge awaits your arrival. In short, Villetta Gialla is a great little property in a fabulous location that is mere metres from the sea – the perfect choice for a beach holiday! |
