Casa Gina is on 1st floor
View from the terrace
Dining area & kitchen corner
Indoors: A kitchen is tucked into the corner of Casa Gina’s dining room, which is also connected to the smart lounge. The lounge has a very comfortable wicker set of armchairs next to its stone and brick fireplace, and care has been taken to decorate the walls with pictures and ornaments. A mezzanine floor is accessed from the dining area and runs above the lounge, offering the option of sleeping space for one beneath the low ceiling. Fireplace in the lounge
The two bedrooms are situated to the rear of the casa, both opening onto the second terrace. One of these is a double bedroom with a cot to one side, whereas the other can be used as a twin or a double room. There is also a shower room with a washing machine.

Surrounding Area: The cluster of homes at the Capo Spartivento headland illustrates the low-key tourism that Sardinia delivers so well: pretty accommodation set into a hillside without detracting from the majestic natural beauty of the coastline. The quality of beaches within a walk or a short drive from Casa Gina is astounding. Su Giudeu is the most prominent; featuring an expanse of golden sand scattered with juniper trees and backed by dunes beyond a lagoon that is often visited by pink flamingos. Just offshore from the beach is the Su Giudeu islet, an adventurous sunbathing spot easily reachable by swimming or wading, since the water is never more than a metre deep. A slightly further walk away is the wonderful Cala Cipolla, flanked by Mediterranean bushes and trees and outcrops of granite. This sandy cove makes an enchanting alternative to the longer stretches of beach found in the region, many of which have bars and other facilities. The path beyond Cala Cipolla rises sharply until the lighthouse is reached and from here the views of the coastline are stunning, particularly at sunset. As if these weren’t enough there are countless other beaches to be discovered nearby including the famous dunes of Chia. Expanse of sand at Chia
Ancient ruins at Nora
Opposite the collection of holiday houses is a bar and a restaurant-pizzeria and a shop is a cycle ride away. More restaurants are scattered around the countryside near the little village of Chia while more are found a 15-minute car journey away in the delightful town of Pula which has plenty of shops and other amenities. The neighbouring Nora makes a great half-day excursion to visit the remains of the ancient Punic-Roman city. The café & restaurant at Spartivento
Italian Islands Insight: Capo Spartivento is a wonderful place for a beach holiday and Casa Gina provides smart and comfortable accommodation within it. The amenities of the small seaside hamlet are directly opposite and on lazy nights when you don’t want to cook you can get a great pizza to take back to your terrace. Gorgeous shades of blue & green
Up to four adults can stay at Casa Gina, with the cot accommodating a small child if necessary. Car hire is recommended, because even though Su Giudeu and Cala Cipolla are both excellent and between them cater for most tastes, it would be a shame to miss the rich and diverse nature of the coastline in this beach paradise region. |
