View of Villa Marghe
The private swimming pool
Outdoors: Villa Marghe is completely surrounded by garden. At the back of the villa, little paved paths lead you from the patio area with a built-in barbecue through the garden filled with olive trees, palms, bushes, and flowers. The patio runs along one side of the villa leading into the large terrace at the front, which is furnished for dining and relaxing outdoors. The spacious main terrace is surrounded by lush plants and enjoys a view of the pool, which measures 10 x 5 metres. The villa boasts a distinctive architectural design with a unique tower housing the upstairs bedroom and its en-suite. From up here you can better appreciate the sea view which is partially obscured by the lush foliage when you are downstairs on the terrace. The spacious garden

Indoors: The air-conditioned living room is in the style of a country cottage with rustic furnishings and décor. Seating is arranged to face the large fireplace and there is a small TV and a dining table. The separate kitchen contains a gas oven and hob, a microwave, and a fridge-freezer. Also downstairs is a shower room, the pine master bedroom and the smaller bedroom with bunk bed. An external staircase leads from the terrace to the upstairs, where there is a twin bedroom that can be converted in to a double. It has a fan and a small en-suite shower room. Surrounding Area: Villa Marghe is not far from Calasetta’s bustling port which has a few restaurants and bars. The village centre has a large square and the main street is pedestrianised with bars, cafés and boutiques as well as local children running around and older people seated on benches while watching life go by. Under the old Saracen tower is the Sottotorre beach. Other soft sandy beaches are just a five-minute drive outside the town and there are plenty more to discover in the south of the island too. You can catch a ferry from the port to the nearby island of San Pietro, which is a real treat. San Pietro is a beautifully unspoilt island and its elegant main town Carloforte offers great fish specialities and a cuisine that is part African, part Sardinian and part Ligurian! It is an easy drive to the Sardinian mainland where you can explore the fabulous coastline, some dramatic caves, and some interesting archaeological sites. Le Saline beach and dunes

Italian Islands Insight: Given that villas with private pools are in short supply in Sardinia, Villa Marghe is always a popular option. Although some of the internal décor is a little dated, the villa is pleasantly furnished and is very comfortable. The outdoors offers a private haven of relaxation and you can happily while away hours on the terrace or in the pool. The pretty entrance
The air conditioning is on the ground floor in the main living area. As the upstairs bedroom and bathroom can only be reached externally these rooms would not be suitable for young children who need close parental supervision. Villa Marghe is sure to provide a great holiday for a family who will enjoy the chance to get to know a wonderful destination off the beaten track. |
