Views of sea & city
A delightful spot to sit out
Indoors: The large double bedroom with wrought-iron bed has plenty of storage space and an en-suite shower room. A second shower room is off the main living area, which comprises kitchen corner, dining table and double sofa bed. A special feature is an additional room for relaxing that opens onto the terrace and garden. An extra room to relax in
Spacious double bedroom
Outdoors: Breathe in the perfume of the sweet smelling flowers and herbs in the tree-filled garden and while away hours dozing on the hammock. Alternatively, grill fish, steaks or Mediterranean vegetables on the barbecue and garnish your dishes with freshly picked herbs. The raised terrace is shaded by a bamboo roof and is the perfect spot for dining and enjoying an evening Limoncello! The garden hammock

Surrounding area: Sciacca is a famous old spa town and a seaside city rising in front of a white limestone cliff. It is also famed for its ceramics and there are many good restaurants to choose from. Although surrounded by modern buildings, it has a charming old town, fashionable boutiques and a cafe-strewn main square. The port is a lively area of activity where fresh fish can be purchased from the local fisherman every evening. A pleasant place to walk in are the pretty 19th century gardens featuring tropical plants and you can take a dip in one of the many thermal pools or have a mud bath! Ascending the prominent volcanic mountain, Monte San Calogero, behind the city, by a steep winding road, you arrive at the peak where sulphurous steam sometimes spouts out of the ground nearby and where there is a cathedral as well as amazing views of Sciacca and its Gulf. Either side of the city are good sandy beaches like Torre Sabauda and Capo San Marco and the nearest beach to Villetta Margherita is just a five-minute drive away. Agrigento and the famous Valley of Temples are less than an hour’s drive away. Promenade in Sciacca

Sightseeing: Agrigento & Eraclea Minoa. Selinunte & Cusa quarries. Marsala. The Zingaro Nature Reserve. Segesta. Erice. Trapani. Egadi Islands. Palermo. Old ceramic tiled stairways
Italian Islands Insight: Villetta Margherita has the advantage, not just of its peaceful location and amazing panoramic views of the Mediterranean, but being situated in a place like Sciacca which has so much to make your holiday memorable: sunbathing on the beach, savouring the interesting culture, or pampering yourself in the renowned spa - to name just a few! There is a specially made entry ramp for disabled access to the villetta but inside, the bathrooms have not been adapted for wheelchair use. The main entrance to the property’s site is via a remote control gate, which the owners also use, as they live next door. Never intrusive, they are a friendly couple who are always willing to help out and who like to offer guests a ‘Welcome Pack’ of typical Sicilian products. A family of cats with very good taste have taken up residence in the grounds of the property, so please do bear this in mind if you are allergic to animal hair. The main living area
Whilst car hire is recommended, especially if you want to tour around parts of the island of Sicily, it would be possible to manage without your own transport if confining your stay to Sciacca, since there is a good supply of buses and taxis on hand. We recommend Villetta Margherita for all these reasons as well as for its stylish and comfortable interiors and its lush garden. It is a lovely holiday spot for a couple or a small family. |
