Surrounding Area: This is a delightful village that has a lot to offer its visitors: beautiful sandy beaches, a good choice of restaurants and bars, a 16-hole mini golf course, and a nature reserve that is home to several varieties of birdlife. The nearest beach, La Spiaggia del Cantone, is just 250 metres away from Casa Marinella. You can also walk to the lovely long sandy Pineta beach, part of the Belice nature reserve, where marine turtles are known to lay eggs. The local supermarket selling typical Sicilian products and fresh fruit and vegetables is just 200 metres away and a couple of restaurants are not too far from the house. There is a good choice of larger supermarkets in Castelvetrano 15 minutes drive away. The Port of Marinella

Outdoors: This modern first-floor property is located on a private road leading to the pretty Cantone beach. A spiral staircase leads up to the private terrace equipped with table and chairs and comfy deck chair loungers. This is an ideal spot to relax while looking out to the sea on the horizon with vines in the foreground. Below the accommodation and beside the inviting pool is a small garden with a lawn featuring tropical plants.  The main front entance

Indoors: The bright rooms all have ceiling fans and the spacious living area is air conditioned too. There is heating in this room for the cooler seasons. The main double bedroom has ample storage, and the second one, which can be made up as a double or a twin according to need, benefits most from the pleasing sea views. The bathroom with shower is nicely tiled with local ceramics. The main living/dining area is tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. There is a double sofa bed, a dining table, a radio/cassette player, and a TV is available on request (Italian channels only). The separate kitchenette is well equipped.  Double or twin bedroom

Italian Islands Insight: Casa Marinella is the first floor of a detached villa. The ground floor is a separate dwelling that can also be rented out, called Casa Giuseppina, and both share the same main entrance gate. If availability allows, larger parties can rent both properties together to sleep 8 in total, and the pool would then be private to this group. Otherwise, the pool is shared with whoever is occupying the downstairs accommodation - in July and August this will be the friendly owners. It may be possible in some circumstances, upon arrangement, for guests to use the barbecue and washing machine located on one of the terraces belonging to Casa Giuseppina. Access to the property is via a spiral staircase in the shared garden so will not be suitable for those with mobility problems or for young children. The whole detached site is enclosed by a wall, but as the pool is not fenced off children will need to be supervised at all times.
