From Villa Mediterranea it is just a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, and the picturesque little fishing village of Porto Palo is also on the doorstep. The newly built barbecue area is a superb feature, perfect for cooking fresh local fish or other Sicilian delicacies.

Outdoors: Villa Mediterranea has been designed to make the most of outdoor living. In the day relax and sunbathe on the terraces while admiring the view, and in the evening cook and dine outside. The enclosed grounds are graced with several varieties of trees and beautiful brightly coloured flowers and plants. All this can be illuminated at night.

Indoors: The villa has been divided into two separate dwellings. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, a bathroom and a good size comfortable living area with kitchen corner. There is also a large balcony boasting spectacular sea views of the coastline and of Porto Palo. The larger downstairs has another bathroom and a double and twin bedroom - the beds have orthopaedic mattresses. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped with all the little extras and the bright living/ dining room has a sofa bed and views straight out to the sea. A handy feature for the hotter months is the mobile air conditioning unit.

Surrounding Area: You can walk along the beach to get to Porto Palo centre, or it is just a short drive. This is a pleasant little seaside resort with a marina, and several seafront bars and restaurants, where you can hire sun loungers, parasols and pedalos. Conveniently, there is a restaurant in between Villa Mediterranea and Porto Palo on the beach which is not far to walk to. Only a kilometre’s drive away on the outskirts of Porto Palo is a well-stocked mini market with a very friendly and helpful shopkeeper. Larger shops are available 4 km away in Menfi. It is not only an excellent location for water sports, but also for cycling, walking and horse riding. A 20 minute car journey takes you to the impressive Greek archaeological park complete with temples and acropolis at Selinunte. In the other direction, why not try out the thermal baths of the spa town Sciacca.

Italian Islands Insight: The villa is ideal for large groups because you have complete privacy and combined access to the facilities of both upstairs and downstairs as well as all the grounds. However, the owner sometime rents out the top and bottom dwellings separately, as they are not joined internally and as there is an independent entrance to the upstairs. However, both share the same main gate. The grounds belong to the bottom dwelling but the upstairs, which sleeps two people, has a lovely terrace of its own. Access to the property is via a narrow unmade road, but you are soon out onto the main routes in and out of Porto Palo. Whilst the main beach in Porto Palo centre can get crowded in the height of season, the lovely golden sands in front of Villa Mediterranea are virtually private to it and its few neighbouring villas. This well-positioned villa with simple but well-equipped interiors is a jewel in our collection and guarantees a wonderful holiday.
