Striking view from rear terrace
Comfortable front garden
Outdoors: The enclosed small front garden with its coffee table and director’s chairs ushers guests into the main living area and through to the rear terrace with its larger dining area, its al fresco cooking suite, its pretty flower beds and breathtaking views. This, along with the upstairs back balcony, is the best place to enjoy the sweeping views of untouched countryside and azure sea, with a mountain backdrop punctuated by a Saracen tower atop a cliff. The upstairs balcony on the other side of the villetta overlooks the front garden, and you can see the picturesque village church to one side and the sea to the other. Macari countryside
Surrounding area: If you can tear your eyes away from the splendour of Monte Cofano Bay, look up the hillside to where the craggy peaks behind La Rosa dei Venti form a natural border with the Zingaro Nature Reserve. This is an ideal spot for hikers and nature lovers, where long walks amongst the enchanting scenery can be broken up by a dip in the crystal clear waters in one of the seven enchanting coves. In contrast to the tranquil solitude of Macari and the surrounding area is the bustling small town of San Vito Lo Capo, with its incredible long sandy beach which must be one of the best in Italy. San Vito has a good atmosphere and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and gelaterias to choose from. Macari's sandy beach
Spectacular beach at San Vito
Further afield, the panoramic road skirting the Zingaro reserve takes you back to the main road, from which point the mountain-top town of Erice, the majestic ruins at Segesta and the historic town of Castellammare del Golfo are all just a short drive away. Kitchen corner with view beyond
Indoors: The ground floor of La Rosa dei Venti is an open plan living area, with a dining table separating the comfortable lounge area from the very well-equipped kitchen corner. The kitchen, which features a wide variety of utensils, herbs and spices, an electric oven & grill and a gas hob, is further complemented by the outdoor cooking facilities. The extensive storage space contains adequate crockery for the dining area, and this matches the colour scheme of the lounge, which has a stereo and a television opposite its sofa-bed. A shower room is set to one side of the kitchen, opposite a useful storage alcove. Double bedroom with balcony
Twin bedroom with balcony
Marble steps lead to the bedrooms upstairs, which benefit from a second shower room. Even this room enjoys a fantastic view! Adjacent to this is the compact double bedroom with its balcony and blue and white striped colour scheme. At the opposite end of the small landing is the larger twin bedroom which features brand new pine furniture and a balcony. Sightseeing: San Vito lo Capo, Scopello, Castellammare del Golfo, Segesta, Erice, Trapani, the Egadi Islands, Selinunte. Italian Islands Insight: La Rosa Dei Venti offers ideal holiday accommodation for families with up to three children, combining the safety and tranquillity of a small village with the attractions and conveniences of a lively seaside resort. The luxury of having a pair of shower rooms means that the property would also be suitable for two couples. Enjoy a morning drink!
Welcome to La Rosa dei Venti
While Macari is delightful in its own right and benefits from a sandy beach that is just about within walking distance, guests at the newly built Rosa dei Venti will need a car in order to reach San Vito Lo Capo, with its stunning beach and tourist facilities. Macari has its own mini-market but a car is also needed in order to reach the larger shops in the nearby seaside town. This region of Sicily has a rich history and some beautiful unspoilt landscapes, and it would be a shame to miss out on these due to lack of transport. Golfo di Cofano
Macari does have a good restaurant-pizzeria, but a wider variety is available just a few kilometres away on Via Savoia, the main street that runs through San Vito Lo Capo down to the beach. Residents at La Rosa dei Venti, however, have other options: the kitchen corner is sufficiently equipped to enable guests to make the most of the local ingredients (particularly the olives for which neighbouring Castelluzzo is famous), and evening barbecues on the rear terrace are further enhanced by the evocative sunsets that grace the west-facing Golfo di Cofano. Families and friends who want to holiday together can also rent another villetta, Il Cigno Blu, on the same road just one door down which belongs to a friend of La Rosa dei Venti's owner. |
