Villetta Rosanna

nconspicuously tucked away among pine trees with the other privately owned holiday homes of the peaceful Calaverde residential park, adjacent to the famous Forte Villetta, you will find Villetta Rosanna. Located by the Santa Margherita di Pula coastline, this sweet two-storey villetta is positioned on the edge of a small cluster of properties, but set in its own quiet garden. It is close to virtually private sandy beaches, inviting turquoise sea and a whole range of amenities.

Cane chairs, comfort & coffee

Indoors: The air-conditioned indoor accommodation is open plan with a white and pale pine colour scheme complemented by modern touches. The villetta is entered from the front by way of the gate and garden and then through a relaxing patio-lounge area furnished with cane chairs and table. The ground floor living area has a dining table for four, a pull-out sofa bed which converts into twin beds, a TV and a well-equipped kitchen corner with hob, table top grill, microwave and fridge-freezer. A staircase leads up to the mezzanine bedroom, which has a low wall on one side with a view down to the living area. It features a double bed, two wardrobes and a ceiling fan. Down two steps from the bedroom, and at the top of the stairs, is the shower-room which also houses a washing machine.

Outdoors: The canopies of restful greenery in the long garden provide privacy and shade. Between the garden and the villetta is a sheltered patio that offers both comfortable cane furniture and practical outdoor dining table and chairs. In the garden near the patio is a brick-built barbecue ideal for cooking Sardinian salsiccia or freshly caught fish. Close to the property is the Via Vento di Maestrali, one of the residence’s quiet roads that leads directly from the custodian controlled entrance to the dwellings where Villetta Rosanna is located.

Sheltered patio & front door

Pathways lit at night are found throughout the lovely Calaverde park, criss-crossing each other and leading to the various amenities of this extensive site. In the main season cars are prohibited from driving around the site and must park in the allotted parking spaces near the entrance, so Calaverde becomes pedestrianised and families can enjoy a safe walk to the white sandy beaches. On site and within easy walking distance is a restaurant/pizzeria, a small shop and an extremely large swimming pool, which, when open (usually July and August only), has its own lifeguard and adjoining bar. There is a small charge for use of the pool. There are also 2 tennis courts and a French boules court as well as the little port of Calaverde, which has a diving centre.

Surrounding Area: For outdoor activities, nearby there is the renowned Is Molas golf course with 27 holes, you can go horse-riding, or go walking in the mountains that are a backdrop to Santa Margherita di Pula. You can go sailing or fishing, and of course, the crystal clear seas are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, or scuba diving. In terms of beaches, there are so many to choose from just a short drive away. The whole Santa Margherita coastline is strikingly beautiful and the renowned beaches and juniper covered sand dunes of Chia are a ten-minute car journey away.

Ancient attractions

A few minutes drive east, approximately 6km, takes you to the delightful town of Pula with cafés, shops, supermarkets, boutiques and pizzerias. From there it is worthwhile visiting Nora, the Roman capital of Sardinia, with its remains of an amphitheatre that lies directly on the sea and is used for a music festival in summer. The Bay of Nora is renowned for nature, both bird and aquatic life, including dolphins and there is an excellent long sandy beach too. Beyond, perhaps for another day, is the bustling capital city of the region, Cagliari.

Pula's pretty church

Alternatively, westward along the coast are breathtaking panoramic views, an abundance of beaches, and roads leading off to excellent restaurants. Whilst in this direction we recommend that you taste the fresh farm cuisine at the Sa Tiria Agriturismo near Teulada. Not to be missed further on, crossing the causeway from the mainland, is the island of Sant’Antioco with its own history, natural beauty, sandy beaches and other delights in store.

Sightseeing: Pula, Nora & Bithia, Chia, Cagliari, the Sulcitan Islands.

Italian Islands Insight: Villetta Rosanna enjoys a privileged position within the park just a short walk from the coast and although by law no beaches are private in Sardinia, non-residents of the Calaverde holiday community do not have any parking facilities and are therefore unlikely to make the long trek on foot down to the beach - especially given the multitude of beautiful beaches in the area.

The garden & barbecue

This self-contained secure park complex with shop, bar, restaurant, tennis courts and large seasonal swimming pool means you can just relax on site for your whole stay. However, to boldly go beyond this base is recommended, as there are larger shops, many more restaurants and beaches galore to discover. It is an ideal destination for a couple or for a small family with one or two young children and you are sure to fall in love with Sardinia’s sparkling South Coast.
