Villa Tonia

Crystal clear waters just 150m away

nhale the lovely sweet-smelling pink-flowering bougainvillaea, which envelop this delightful villa and are an ever-present feature of the peaceful Perdalonga residence. Set near the top of a gentle slope that leads down to a chain of secluded and unspoilt sandy beaches, bordered by wild nature, Villa Tonia has a great deal of private outdoor space in which to relax after a long swim.

A delightful spot to catch the sun

Large covered terrace with bbq

Outdoors: In addition to a front terrace, a grassy area to the side of the house and a small sun-trap, Villa Tonia boasts an enormous patio to its rear, mostly shaded by a bamboo roof and featuring a large built-in barbecue. Stone steps lead up from here to a green garden. Like the main patio, this area is illuminated at night, creating a magical atmosphere in which to enjoy your evening meal. In the day, relax under the shade of the garden’s thickly-plumed trees, through which you can glimpse the craggy hilltops of the surrounding area. The dense bougainvillaea shrouding the front of the villa almost obscure the sea view, but do not prevent the sun’s rays from flooding over the charming porch - an ideal spot to sit and enjoy.

Indoors: The entrance leads into the main living room in which the focal point is the traditional fireplace. Antique furniture includes fireside armchairs, display cabinet and dining table. These proudly displayed pieces, sought out by the collector-owner from as far afield as England, have been chosen to match the wood panels adorning the compact kitchen corner. The nicely tiled bathroom with shower is thoughtfully equipped with hairdryer, iron and ironing board. This bathroom is shared between the good-size double bedroom and smaller twin bedroom. Downstairs, the big third bedroom has double bed, large wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower and washing machine. A lovely feature of this room is the delightful arched window and entrance opening out onto a patio with steps up to a raised sun trap amidst brightly coloured flowers.

Surrounding Area: Villa Tonia is located between the capes of Malfatano and Spartivento in the Perdalonga residence which consists of privately owned holiday homes. A short walk from the villa leads to a network of sandy paths bordered by wild low-lying macchia and sculpted rocks, which in turn lead to the secluded beaches below. The well-tended residential park is gated, which restricts access to the beaches, and for extra security there is a full-time custodian. The villa is also close to Tuerredda beach, one of the most photographed beaches on the South Coast with soft sands, clear waters and several amenities. Within a very short drive there are so many sandy beaches that you could visit a different one every day of your holiday and still not see them all! There are restaurants scattered around the nearby resorts and villages, while a twenty minute or so drive will take you to the lively town of Pula which has a good selection of restaurants, bars and gelaterias. Pula offers pretty boutiques, salumerias (Italian delicatessens) and large supermarkets and Chia, just 5 km away from the villa, has a couple of mini-markets. Sardinia’s bustling capital, Cagliari, is less than an hour’s drive. In terms of archaeology, it is not far to several sites of interest, including the wonderful remains of the Punic-Roman town of Nora. For your sporting activities there is a football pitch within the residence and the 27-hole Is Molas golf course is also just a short car journey away.

Sightseeing: Pula, Nora and Bithia, Teulada, Cagliari, Sant’Antioco island, San Pietro island, Villasimius and coastline.

Italian Islands Insight: A hire car is essential for getting to shops and restaurants and although you can walk to some delightful sandy beaches you will appreciate a car in order to visit the many more that this region of the South Coast has to offer. The villa’s downstairs bedroom with en-suite is only accessible from outside and while this would offer a little extra privacy to an adult couple, it would not be suitable for children who require supervision. Due to the antique furnishings, Villa Tonia is not ideal for families with very young or particularly boisterous children. However, the property is fully enclosed and is a good choice for a family holiday as both the terrace and garden are superb places to spend time in. The villa is set in a lovely quiet position in a beautiful part of Sardinia and would also be a good option for groups of friends who enjoy cooking and dining outdoors, being very near to beaches and being close to nature.
