Flamingos in the lagoon behind Su Giudeu beach
Villetta Vittoria's front façade & garden
Sunbathe in the pretty garden
Outdoors: A well-tended lawn, scattered with dwarf palms and other Mediterranean plans, slopes up to the terrace of Villetta Vittoria, where you can enjoy many an al fresco meal. Past the flowery borders and around the side of the property, the large barbecue is shared with guests at the neighbouring Casa Valentina.

Smart, spacious living area
Surrounding Area: The cluster of homes at the Capo Spartivento headland illustrates the low-key tourism that Sardinia delivers so well: pretty accommodation set into a hillside without detracting from the majestic natural beauty of the coastline. The quality of beaches within a walk or a short drive from Villetta Vittoria is astounding. Su Giudeu is the most prominent; featuring an expanse of golden sand scattered with juniper trees and backed by dunes beyond a lagoon that is often visited by pink flamingos. Just offshore from the beach is the Su Giudeu islet, an adventurous sunbathing spot easily reachable by swimming or wading, since the depth is never more than a metre. A slightly further walk away is the wonderful Cala Cipolla flanked by Mediterranean bushes and trees and outcrops of granite. This sandy cove makes an enchanting alternative to the longer stretches of beach found in the region, many of which have bars and other facilities. The path beyond Cala Cipolla rises sharply until the lighthouse is reached and from here the views of the coastline are stunning, particularly at sunset. As if these weren’t enough there are countless other beaches to be discovered nearby including the famous dunes of Chia. Wade out to the Su Giudeu islet
A Capo Spartivento sunset
Opposite the collection of holiday houses is a bar and a restaurant-pizzeria and a shop is a cycle ride away. More restaurants are scattered around the countryside near the little village of Chia while more are found a 15-minute car journey away in the delightful town of Pula which has plenty of shops and other amenities. The neighbouring Nora makes a great half-day excursion to visit the remains of the ancient Punic-Roman city. View from upstairs apartment
Italian Islands Insight: Despite the presence of some useful amenities in the vicinity of Capo Spartivento, car hire is recommended in order to have a wider choice of beaches, restaurants and shops. The villetta has its own off-street parking which is important during peak season when the popularity of Su Giudeu and Cala Cipolla draws many day-trippers. Even when the car parks are full, however, the size and prevalence of the local beaches is such that there is always space on the sand. A path into Cala Cipolla cove
Since it is situated above the level of the street via a short flight of steps, Villetta Vittoria retains a degree of privacy but is not suitable for those with mobility constraints. The owners of Villetta Vittoria often spend weekends in the flat above, but when it is vacant, guests are welcome to use their upstairs terrace which has a splendid sea view. Villetta Vittoria is a versatile property in an excellent location, ideal for a larger family of beach lovers but also well suited to any group of six or less who wish to appreciate a spectacular stretch of coastline. |
